I was so excited to begin working as a traveling nurse. I had interviewed and signed my first nursing contract on September 27th with Rady Childrens San Diego. I had initially interviewed with some northern states and was really worried about how I (being a florida girl) would manage a winter lol. So San Diego couldn't have have been more perfect.
I left for San Diego October 23rd with my mom and step dad. We spent a 9 days exploring the area.
Day 1- We went to Mount Soledad, La Jolla to see the sea lions, and had dinner at Dukes.
Day 2- Spent the day at The San Diego Zoo.
Day 3- We went to the USS Midway. It just so happened to be fleet week while we were there which was neat to see. I found out this day my nursing license number for california so it was a very exciting day haha. We also went to Silver strand beach to watch the sunset which was really neat as we were watching a fighter jet flew over which was amazing!
Day 4- We went up to Temecula the wine country of San Diego. We spent our time there at Wilson Creek where the wine kept pouring.
Day 5- I had modules to do during the day but my Mom and Step Dad had gone and explored Balboa park. After we went to Little Italy for dinner which was so yummy!
Day 6- went up to Cabrillo National Monument, the point Loma Lighthouse, and drove up to LA (to get my car). Then we headed out to Big Bear Lake.
Day 7- We rented this super cute cabin to stay in. During the day we explored the area and went for an easy trail hike- we took Woodland Trail. On our way home before getting dinner we watched the sunset over Big Bear Lake. It was the most incredible sunset I have seen.
Day 8- today was Halloween! In the morning I went and hiked Castle rock Trail in the morning. It was absolutely beautiful. It was my first hike in California. The town was holding a cute costume parade and dressed up their dogs in hilarious costumes my favorite was a dog dressed as a In-n-out server and the owner was a burger. We watched the sunset over Big Bear Lake again that night. It was perfect!
Day 9- I had to head back to San Diego to get settled. But we could pass off another sight to see: Joshua Tree National Park. Which was amazing! I was so shocked at the nature California has to offer. Its crazy!
Those nine starter days were the best way to get acclimated for my new home for the next three months. =]
