This post is a continuation of my trip to Northern California. Again this was highly recommended by my Step Dad and my Mom soo I had to add it to the list! On Thursday August 20, 2020 I went to McArthur-Burney Falls, McCloud Falls, and stayed the night in an AirBnB in the town of Mount Shasta. I was fortunate to get to experience these sights smoke free since the smoke hadn't made its way over yet from the wild fires.
I started the day stopping at McArthur-Burney Falls first. The state park has no enterance fee but you do have to pay $10 to park. The Burney Falls loop trail is a 1 mile loop trail that I urge for you to walk and see! The main feature is the waterfall, which is absolutely breath taking, but you also get to experience other great natural views. During the hike/walk you get to see the falls from different heights and view points that are so specktacular. The elevation gain on the trail is about 134 feet. The hike is beautiful my favorite spot, besides the falls, was standing on the bridge and looking at the river that leads into the falls. The water was so clear and the trees and scrubs around the river were so green. My other favorite spot was to stand at the shore and just marvel over the falls. It is an exhiliration feeling of the cold mist that comes from the Falls. This lushious water fall flows a 100 million gallons of water a day. Thats a WHOLE LOTTA WATER! Another cool aspect about the loop trail is that you walk by a part that is connected to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). I had to take a picture with the sign and I even got to touch the PCT! I had read WILD by Cheryl Strayed, roughly a year before, and I was geeking out haha!
McCloud Falls was another spot I had discovered through the use of Pinterest and searching for things to do in the area. The McCloud Waterfalls Trail was a 3.6 mile out & back hike. It was a great workout and involved a 314 feet elevation gain. The trail features three waterfalls varrying in size they were: lower, middle, and upper falls. The hike was gorgeous and was luscious with greenery. On the hike to the upper falls I passed a deer grazing maybe 6 or 7 feet away from where I stood on the trail. It was beautiful!
That night I stayed in Downtown Shasta. The view from the enterance of my AirBnB faced the beautiful lightly dusted snow capped and majestic Mount Shasta. It was a phenominal view to see. I felt like it could not be real how beautiul it was. I absoluetly loved staying in Downtown Shasta! I went to walk around downtown a couple of times and got really good breakfast and lunch from Yaks Mt Shasta Koffee and Eatery. The town had so much charm! I also loved how you could see Mount Shasta and Black Butte from Mount Shastas downtown. I was taking in the view any chance I could get.
The sites I had used to plan this section of the trip were:
McArthur-Burney Falls
Deer Encounter
Drone shot of Mount Shasta from BnB!
