Bucket List:
Big Music festival ☑️ -Lollapalooza August 3-5
My girlfriend, Captain, and I had been talking a few months before and came up with the idea of meeting in Chicago and attend Lollapalooza. Then everything fell into place. I love Chicago so it obviously did not take much convincing. I hadn't attended a huge festival before. I had been to Tortuga Music Festival about three times but for some reason I did not see it on such a huge spectrum which it is lol. I think it was because it was held in my own back yard. So traveling to get to this festival made it that much more a bucket list check off! 😄
We decided we would allow ourselves a day before and after the festival so we could go explore. I flew out to Chicago August 1st. My first go to was to get to the AirBnB drop off my luggage and get to Lou Malnati's for some pizza. After we did some grocery shopping then relaxed in preparation for the demanding days to come. We did go out that night to grab a drink at a roof top bar.
The days at the festival were crazy. SO many people haha. The first day, August 2nd, the artists we saw perform were: All time low, Rebelution, Rezz, and Galantis. Galantis was honestly my highlight of the day. My friend Captain was able to get a spot in the front row so It was absolutely amazing definitely not good for my hearing haha but it was incredible. I had first heard their song Runaway (U & I) in Spain. So it was just a really cool moment to get to see them performing while in the front row.
The second day, August 3rd, the performers we saw were: Bebe Rexha, Goldfish, The Neighbourhood, B0RNS, Dillion Francis, Tyler, The Creator, a little of Post Malone from the distance, and Bruno Mars. My highlight of the day was absolutely hands down Bruno Mars! Holy crap that man is a hell of a performer! It felt like a huge party. Everyone was so happy, dancing, and having fun. It was an amazing experience.
The third day, August 3th, the performers we saw were: ARIZONA, LL Cool J, Logic, Zedd, The Weekend.
The fourth and final day, August 4th, I saw: FRENSHIP (twice) and Odeza. At this point I was over the big crowd haha I wanted to have my hair braided so I stood in line forever lol but it was with good reason! The booth I was at was actually a small stage and I got to see FRENSHIP perform for some time acoustically. I immediately called my friend captain and told her to come to see them perform. It was all in all a neat experience. I am happy I did it and was able to mark it off my list.
I really liked how diverse the music was. I personally can only see so many EDM performs in a row. They all start to sound the same. No offense just my opinion. So it was nice to have it broken up. I also was pretty overwhelmed by the amount of performers I had wanted to see so I learned I just had to g. o with the flow, not stress it, and enjoy. My takeaway from this experience is the next time I do something like this I will chose to do VIP to avoid some of the huge crowd feeling. We made it through though in one piece! lol
On our last day, August 6th, we had enough time to go and check out the Shedd Aquarium as well as grab a good old delicious hot dog from Kim & Carols Hot Dog Stand.
All in all another successful girlfriends trip to the Windy city!
